Setting Up Membership Fees with Stripe Express
A complete guide to configuring and managing membership payments for your swim club
Understanding Stripe Express Accounts
As a club administrator, you've set up a Stripe Express account through the Swim Club Connect app. This type of account is specifically designed for platforms like ours, providing you with streamlined payment management.

Accessing Your Stripe Express Dashboard
Unlike regular Stripe accounts, your Express account doesn't use a username and password. Instead, you'll access your dashboard directly through the Swim Club Connect app:
- In the Swim Club Connect app, navigate to Manage Payments
- Tap on the "View Stripe Dashboard" button
- You'll be redirected to your personalized Stripe Express Dashboard
- Authenticate with a verification code sent to your mobile phone
Note: The Express Dashboard gives you a simplified view of your club's financial activity, including payment history, account balance, upcoming payouts, and refund management.
Creating Membership Products
To set up membership fees for your club, follow these steps:
1 Configure Products Within the App
- In the Swim Club Connect app, go to the Manage Payments section
- Tap on "Configure Membership Fees"
- Tap "Add Membership Type"
2 Define Your Membership Details
For each membership type, set:
- Name: Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Adult Membership", "Junior Membership")
- Description: Explain what the membership includes
- Price: Set the amount members will pay
- Billing Frequency:
- One-time payment (annual fee)
- Monthly recurring payment
- Quarterly recurring payment
- Annual recurring payment
- Eligibility (optional): Age ranges or other requirements
3 Create Multiple Membership Types (if needed)
Repeat Step 2 to create different membership options, such as:
- Family memberships
- Senior/Concession memberships
- Temporary/Seasonal memberships
4 Set Availability
For each membership type:
- Toggle the "Active" switch to make it available to members
- Set any availability dates if the membership is seasonal
5 Preview and Save
- Review all your membership offerings
- Tap "Save" to make them available to club members
How Stripe Processes Memberships
When you create membership products in the app:
- The app automatically creates corresponding products in your Stripe account
- Each price option is configured as a Stripe Price linked to the product
- Recurring memberships are set up as Stripe Subscriptions
- One-time payments are processed as single charges
Monitoring Memberships and Payments
To track membership payments:
- In the Swim Club Connect app, go to Manage Payments
- View the "Active Memberships" section to see current members
- Access your Stripe Express Dashboard to view detailed payment information
- Monitor your bank account for regular payouts from Stripe
Handling Special Cases
Offering Discounts
- In the "Configure Membership Fees" section
- Select a membership type and tap "Add Discount"
- Set discount parameters (percentage or fixed amount)
- Define eligibility (e.g., "Family Discount", "Early Bird Discount")
Handling Refunds
If you need to issue a refund:
- Navigate to the "Members" section in the app
- Find the member and tap on their payment
- Select "Issue Refund" and confirm the amount
