Meet Ryan & Gary

Swim Club Connect was born out of a Brisbane swimming club’s challenges during the COVID pandemic. Frustrated by years of difficulty finding volunteers skilled in running Meet Manager and the ongoing costs of maintaining costly timing equipment, we found ourselves at a crossroads. The pandemic, along with unexpected floods, presented us with a choice: allow our club and swimming program to decline, or use the time constructively to tackle these persistent issues.

Through Swim Club Connect, we not only addressed our own challenges but also built a community of like-minded clubs facing similar obstacles, all connected through word of mouth and shared goals.

Ryan is a dedicated mentor, coach, and volunteer, giving his all to swimmers of all ages every week. As the driving force behind our company, his vision has guided our efforts from the start.

He spends his weekdays on the pool deck as a swim coach at multiple sites around Brisbane, and his weekends are packed with attending, organising, or competing in swimming and other sports events. With his deep understanding of what it takes to run a successful swim club, Ryan brings invaluable passion and insight to the Swim Club Connect app.

Gary met his future wife, Susie, swimming in lane 3 of the 25-yard YWCA basement pool on the corner of 53rd & Lex in New York City. After 20 years in NYC, Gary and Susie moved to Brisbane with their young family.

While Gary switched from real-time options pricing to mobile app development, Susie found herself running the local West End school swim club after no one else put their hand up (you know how that goes!). They made great friends and the kids loved it, but they saw the administrative struggle firsthand.

During the COVID pandemic, Ryan and Gary joined forces. They realised that by combining Ryan’s coaching insights with Gary’s technical expertise, they could help make running our wonderful swim clubs more rewarding and efficient.
